KPFA STEERING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES SELECTION OF MEDIATOR
The eleven-member Steering Committee of KPFA Radio, the only body authorized by the KPFA union staff to enter into mediation with the Pacifica Foundation, announces the selection of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to mediate the conflict between Pacifica on the one hand, and KPFA staff and community on the other.
The KPFA Steering Committee consists of representatives from KPFA's union staff, non-union staff, management staff, and the community.
The Steering Committee's selection of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service is being communicated to Mary Frances Berry, Chair of the Pacifica Governing Board, and to the members of the Governing Board, and to Pacifica Executive Director Lynn Chadwick.
The Steering Committee is prepared to enter into negotiations immediately. We rely upon Pacifica's assurances that it is prepared to move forward on mediation.
The Steering Committee expresses its deep concern about the need for dismissal of all criminal charges against the KPFA free speech protestors.
